Flyers

Carefully designed and planned for young children preparing to take a Cambridge YLE Flyers Test.
  • Aged 10 years and above.
  • For children who have a pre-intermediate level of English.
  • For children who already have a good grasp of the language and skills required to tackle with the course.
Your tween may be dealing with lots of exams like PSLE, UPSR, GCE exams and the never-ending list goes on right? Parents are always encouraged to persevere and motivate your child in achieving the last YLE test! By the end of this course, your child would have proven to be a competent user of English at the young learners stage. English is second nature to them by now and they CAN engage in an English conversation naturally.

By the end of the Pre-Flyers and Flyers courses, your child is rewarded with an internationally recognised certificate and they CAN achieve the following abilities:

Listening and Speaking
  • CAN say that they do not understand something or cannot do something, and ask for help, using expressions such as ‘Could you say it again, please?’.
  • CAN talk about a problem in simple terms.
  • CAN arrange with friends to do something or play together.
  • CAN make and respond to invitations, suggestions, apologies and requests.
  • CAN understand audio and video clips used in the English lesson.
  • CAN talk briefly about things they have done, for example about their favourite holiday.
Reading and Writing
  • CAN understand longer texts about everyday topics, even if they do not know all the words.
  • CAN use a dictionary to help them understand a word they do not know.
  • CAN write a short message on a postcard or in an email.
  • CAN write about how they feel and give reasons why, in simple sentences.
  • CAN write short dialogues, for example in speech bubbles, picture stories, comics.
  • CAN make up a story in English using ideas, pictures or words that the teacher gives them.

Pre-Flyers


This stage is specially designed for Young Learners
  • Aged 10 years and above.
  • For children who have an elementary level of English.
  • For children who already have a good grasp of the English language.
Your child is not really a child anymore? They are probably intrigued and mesmerized by the digital world by now. They may also start to have the need to talk about a problem they may have in school and they seem to be having a more active social life. Birthday parties and hanging out with friends are gaining importance in their lives and you’re catching them watching video clips on the Internet. By now, your tween needs more language to socialize with the real world. Our Pre-Flyers learners are introduced to authentic texts like newspapers, magazines and even the Internet where they are expected to research and summarize information.

This course is specially designed and written for children preparing to move on to the YLE Flyers course.

Movers


This level is suitable for Young Learners
  • Aged 9 years and above.
  • Has some foundation in English.
  • Would like to learn English at an international level.
  • At the end of this course, young learners sit for Cambridge Can help your child understand basic instructions or take part in simple conversations. Your children will be able to complete basic forms and write notes, including times, dates and places.
It’s time for your child to sit for the second Cambridge YLE test! Learners have to get their ball rolling now. They are introduced to both cognitive and inductive ways to learning English. Both sets of learning skills are taught to suit different learners with different needs. Some learners like to think deep while others like to discover the language. Grammar rules are introduced to help your child organize and construct their learning. Right, it’s getting complicated, so leave the teaching to us!

Through this course, your child is taught to understand basic instructions or take part in simple conversations. Your children will be able to complete basic forms and write notes, including times, dates and places.

  • CAN write simple sentences, using words given to them.

Pre-Movers


This stage is specially designed for young learners
  • Aged 8 years and above.
  • Has some foundation in English.
  • Would like to learn English at an international level.
Already taken the Starters exam? It is time to move on to longer reading and writing texts! By the time your child reaches this stage, they would be between 8 to 10 years old! They start to agree and disagree with you and ask a million questions – almost anything under the stars. At the Pre-Movers level, your child is trained to express themselves fluently in English.

Young learners at this level are guided through self-directed learning. Gone are the days when the teacher stands in front of the classroom telling your children what to do. Instead, your children are given the opportunity to direct their own learning. Every child comes in to class with some knowledge and it is time to draw this hidden knowledge in them.

By the end of the Pre-Movers and Movers courses, your children CAN achieve the following abilities:

Listening and Speaking

Starters


This stage is specially designed for young learners
  • Aged 6 years and above.
  • Has basic foundation in English.
  • Ready to learn English at an international level.
  • At the end of this course, young learners sit for the Cambridge English YLE examination to test their ability in English proficiency. 
Young learners are fast learners and at the Starters level, they are prepared through a carefully thought out curriculum which prepares them for the Cambridge YLE Starters Test.

By the end of the Pre-Starters and Starters courses, your children CAN achieve the following abilities:

Listening and Speaking
  • CAN understand simple sentences about things around them, like ‘This is a chair’, ‘I like my school’, ‘That’s my pen’.
  • CAN respond to personal questions on topics such as age, family and their home.
  • CAN understand simple expressions of communication, such as ‘Hello’, ‘How are you?’, ‘Thank you’.
  • CAN respond to simple expressions of communication with ‘Yes, please’, ‘Sorry’, ‘I don’t understand’.
  • CAN understand and follow simple classroom instructions given by the teacher, such as ‘Open your book’, ‘Read the question’, ‘Listen to me’.
  • CAN listen to and repeat words and phrases appropriate to the level after their teacher.
Reading and Writing
  • CAN recognise the letters of the English alphabet.
  • CAN write the letters of the English alphabet and spell their name and simple words.
  • CAN read short, simple words and the names of some objects, such as animals, toys, clothes.
  • CAN write simple sentences about themselves and their family.
  • CAN understand simple written instructions, for example how they should do an exercise in their coursebook.
  • CAN recognise and copy words, phrases and short sentences from a text, a book, or the board in the classroom.

Pre-Starters


This level is suitable for Young Learners.
  • Aged 5 years and above.
  • Has little foundation in English.
  • Would like to learn English at an international level.
  • Can speak and write simple, basic English.
Young learners need time to shape their language abilities and that is the reason why the Pre-Starters level was developed. Your child is given the opportunity to explore and discover English at a more comfortable pace when they join this group.

By the end of the Pre-Starters and Starters courses, your children CAN achieve the following abilities:

Cambridge Junior

Carefully designed for Very Young Learners.
  • Aged 4 to 5 years old.
  • Has little or no foundation in English.
  • Learn through songs, games, total physical response, role-playing and dozens of creative activities!
We build your child’s foundation in speaking, listening, reading and writing through different classroom activities. What’s more, we have carefully selected and adopted original titles from Cambridge University Press. You can expect your child to be sensitized to simple grammar, new vocabulary and phonics.
